A sauna in Doha is a short conversation about the cabin and a long one about the building. The city's towers, island marinas and mixed-use districts put the suite on a podium, a roof or a terrace that someone else owns, and the usual obstacles are air, weight and who has to say yes. Arabic searchers type ساونا قطر and English ones "sauna doha price"; both are really asking the same question: what will it take in my building?
Four kinds of building, one set of questions
| Kind of brief | Where the suite goes | First question |
|---|---|---|
| Tower amenity floor (a West Bay-type brief) | podium or sky-lounge level | what live load the slab takes and where the plant breathes |
| Island marina villa (a Pearl-type brief) | terrace, garden or roof | who can see the glass from the water and the neighbours |
| Mixed-use district (a Lusail- or Msheireb-type brief) | residents' floor or hotel deck | which of the tenant, the operator or the landlord owns the plant |
| Hotel or club | spa deck, recovery room or roof | peak-hour numbers and the opening date |
The district names are examples of property types, not references to projects.
Humid heat, and the air path on a podium
Doha's mean daily maximum is 41.5 °C in July and 40.7 °C in August, and January averages 21.7 °C by day and 12.8 °C by night (Qatar Meteorology Department normals for 1962-1992, via the WMO World Weather Information Service); Kahramaa's wiring code designs for a maximum ambient of 52 °C and records relative humidity of 100% at 30 °C (2016).
On a humid coast a cold surface sweats: coping, glass and handrails collect condensation, and a chiller's condenser works in air that is both hot and wet. On a tower podium the air path is the whole problem, because wind swirls round the building and the plant niche on the sunny side recirculates its own exhaust. We draw the niche in shade, with a clear intake and exhaust and a filter, and ask the building engineer where the wind goes.
Weight and water above the fifth floor
- Water. A plunge of 1,100 L is 1.1 t on about 1.5 m², roughly 700 kg per square metre before the shell and bathers; a hot and cold pair adds about 1,300 L of warm water. The structural engineer needs both figures at concept stage.
- Cabins. Two 10-seat glass cabins are timber and glass of a few tonnes; their positions on the slab matter more than their total.
- Drains and waterproofing. The recess is formed and waterproofed before finishes; the nearest permitted discharge point for rinse and backwash is a question for the building's engineer.
- Lifts. Panels and pool components arrive by goods lift or crane; book the lift and ask for its dimensions before the layout is frozen.
Supply, currency and tax in a Doha quote
For the plant room, the Kahramaa Low Voltage Electricity Wiring Code (2016) gives Qatar 240/415 V ±6%, three-phase four-wire, at a nominal 50 Hz.
The Qatari riyal is fixed against the dollar, with the Qatar Central Bank buying at 3.6385 and selling to banks at 3.6415 (QCB Instructions to Banks), so we use 3.64 as a working figure.
Qatar has no national VAT at present (PwC Tax Summaries, 2026), and most imports pay the GCC common customs tariff of 5% of the CIF value (US International Trade Administration, 2025).
From "gym with sauna" to a padel-club question
Playtomic and Strategy& count more than 150 padel courts in Qatar (Global Padel Report 2026), and a member who has just played in the evening will want somewhere to sit afterwards. Four courts finishing together send sixteen players to the door; an 8-seat cabin turns 24 members an hour and two square plunges keep the cold side from queueing. See fitness and padel clubs for the arithmetic and the Riyadh padel club profile for a worked layout.

A tower amenity floor, priced for Doha
For a smaller brief, a villa terrace on a marina can start with a round plunge and a 4-seat cabin; the price guide and the suite builder show how each choice moves the number.
Programme in a city that rests on summer afternoons
In Qatar, outdoor work stops from 10:00 to 15:30 between 1 June and 15 September under Ministerial Decision No. 17 of 2021 (as reported by Qatari media for the 2026 season).
Add Ramadan's changed hours and the weeks around Eid to the calendar and the installation window shrinks; planning around Ramadan and the season works the dates backwards from an opening.
How much does a sauna cost in Doha?
A 2-seat glass cabin starts around $8.4–11.5k (SAR 32–43k), a 4-seat cabin around $11.5–16.5k (SAR 43–62k) and a 10-seat amenity cabin around $26.5–36.5k (SAR 99–137k), before civil works, power, permits, duties and delivery. See what a custom sauna costs in the Gulf.
Can a cold plunge hold 4 °C in a Doha summer?
That is the set point we design for, 3–5 °C within ±0.3 °C, with shade or a lid and a plant sized for the hottest, most humid afternoon. See chiller sizing at 45 °C.
Which approvals should I ask about for a tower?
Ask the building's management and its structural engineer about slab loads, the plant position and rules on roof and podium equipment, ask civil defence about a heater and a cabin, and ask the municipality whether a pool or a roof structure needs a permit. The layout lists the loads and dimensions each office will want.
What does an ice bath cost in Qatar?
A compact free-standing ice bath with its chiller is about $5.7–8.2k (SAR 21–31k); a built-in plunge pool starts at $16.7–28k (SAR 63–105k). See free-standing ice baths and cold plunge pools.
