A compound-villa brief in Khobar or Dammam starts with privacy, then meets the coast's air and the compound's office. Whether the search was ساونا الخبر or ‘sauna khobar’, three questions come first: who uses the wing, who can see it and who services the plant.
Behind the compound wall: the ladies' wing as a brief
A ladies' wing is used differently from a club. It may sit quiet for days, then fill for a gathering: the women of the household and their guests, six or eight at a time, arriving together and staying for hours. The cabin is sized for the gathering, not the average day, and a warm pool beside the cold one (a hot and cold pair) gives guests somewhere to rest between rounds. Four decisions shape the drawing.
- The route. The wing is entered from the household's private side through a door that closes behind the user, with no line of sight to the gate.
- The glass. Clear towards the wing's own walled garden; frosted or tinted on any pane an upper window can see.
- The service path. The plant is reached from the service side, so housekeeping and the engineer never cross the wing.
- The sound. The chiller stands behind a solid wall, away from the seating and from bedroom windows.
Before the layout is frozen put three questions to the compound office: what height and footprint a garden structure may have, how far ahead outside contractors need passes, and whether a crane or a long vehicle may use the compound roads. Installation takes up to 7 days inside the wing, so agree with the household which days it is closed and by which route the installers reach it.
| Household wing | Women-only club | |
|---|---|---|
| Who uses it | one household and its guests, six to eight at a time | members by booking, in sessions through the day |
| Cabin | 4 to 6 seats, sized for the gathering | 6 to 8 seats, sized for the peak hour |
| Cold side | one round plunge, or a pair with a warm pool | two or more plunges |
| What decides it | sight lines from upper windows and the compound office | the entrance route and the booking pattern |
Clubs and salons are on ladies' wellness clubs; this page is the private household, and the wider villa approach is on villas and compounds. Planning separate sides for men and women works the entrances and sight lines in detail.
A gathering of twelve, minute by minute
| Minute | In the wing |
|---|---|
| −40 | Housekeeping switches the cabin on; it is ready in about 40 minutes. |
| 0 | Guests arrive and the first six enter the cabin. |
| 15 | First round ends: the cold plunge, then the warm pool. |
| 20 | The next six enter, after five minutes to wipe and air the cabin. |
| 35 | Second round ends. All twelve have had a round. |
That is 18 guests an hour at best through a 6-seat cabin, which is why the wing has six seats and a warm pool rather than four seats and a queue.
Waterfront terraces: the view is also a sight line
At Dammam the mean daily maximum is 45.0 °C in July and 44.7 °C in August, and January averages 21.0 °C by day and 9.6 °C by night (National Center for Meteorology normals for 2001-2010, via the WMO World Weather Information Service). Dammam's station stands for both cities. On top of that heat the sea adds damp and salt, so glass, steel and the machine's coil are rinsed and checked as routine; the coastal materials list is the one on the Jeddah page. Further from the water the salt is milder, but the sight lines and the compound office stay the same. A terrace on the water has the view it exists for, and it is seen from every direction that view opens to: the promenade, the neighbouring terraces, the water. Draw the sight lines first. Wind off the water meets no hill, so screens, pergola and cabin are fixed to the structure and every lid has a catch.
Bahrain, the neighbouring island kingdom, has its own pages, Bahrain and Manama; its supply, approvals and delivery are its own, so nothing here is assumed for a site there.

The smaller wing of a 4-seat cabin and one round plunge is drawn in the illustrative Khobar compound suite profile. Walls, trellis, connections, approvals, duties and VAT are outside the range; the suite builder and price guide show how each choice moves it.
What does a sauna in Khobar cost?
A 4-seat glass cabin starts around $11.5–16.5k (SAR 43–62k) and a 6-seat cabin around $16.5–23.5k (SAR 62–88k); the ladies' wing above, with a pair and a deck, is $45.3–73.5k (SAR 170–276k). The ranges are indicative, and the free layout within five working days replaces them with a quote.
Can a ladies' wing be added to a villa that is already built?
Usually, if a garden or a room can be screened and a plant niche found in shade within a few metres. Send photos of the garden taken from every upper window, your own and the neighbours', with the drains and the power point; we mark the sight lines before we choose the glass.
Will salt air shorten the life of a cabin or a plunge?
Salt works on metal first: the coil, the fixings, the handrail and the display post. We specify coated coils and 316 stainless and write the rinse into the care sheet, but we do not promise a service life; the warranty is two years on everything, with a year of assisted service visits.
Is a steam room or hammam a better fit for a ladies' wing?
They are different rooms with different plumbing, and we build neither. A heater-based dry sauna and a cold plunge are our work; sauna, steam room or hammam sets out the differences before you decide.
